BIRMINGHAM and ATLANTA, April 17, 2020Marketing solutions firm Luckie has a new chief operating officer. David McMullen joined the Luckie team in mid-March.

McMullen has a long history of working with and growing independent, family-owned agencies. He comes to Luckie from Nashville-based redpepper where he ran the agency as COO while leading the firm’s Atlanta office for the past 17 years.

As COO of Luckie, McMullen will be focused on optimizing business operations and evolving the agency’s service model and product offerings to constantly deliver agile, creative problem solving for client-partners.

“Dave is an entrepreneur and an organizational strategist. That specific combination is important to us as we look for innovative ways to grow and to deliver really great work in an industry and business environment that are evolving at a rapid pace,” said John Gardner, president of Luckie. “Long-term growth for agencies requires constant evolution and innovation; as an independent shop, Luckie is in a great position to address both.”

McMullen is the latest executive to join Luckie’s leadership team, which has expanded significantly over the past two years. Gardner has been architecting a growth plan for the agency centered around its data-first approach to marketing. He has brought in senior level talent from top agencies and global brands to fill positions in business development, creative, marketing technology, BI & analytics, and strategic planning.  Luckie was recognized nationally in 2019 as one of the top marketing firms for the pharmaceuticals industry by Pharma Tech Outlook and internationally by World Travel Market for digital work with the U.S. Civil Rights Trail/Alabama Tourism Department.

“I see in Luckie an agency that is poised to innovate and grow with a distinct competitive advantage around data and analytics,” said McMullen. “My job is to set the agency and our clients up for success with the right people on the right strategy.”

McMullen is a graduate of MIT’s Entrepreneurial Masters Program and received a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Western Kentucky University. He is former president and current board member of the Atlanta Entrepreneur’s Organization and also serves on the boards of the Gwinnett County Chamber of Commerce and Cross Pointe Church. McMullen lives in Gwinnett with his wife and two children.
